This year our monthly meetings will feature demos and presentations about different aspects of the process of making comics. Our special guest presenter for September is Alex Nall. See details below.

Alex will show us how he used photos, interviews, and other reference material to create scenes from his biography of Fred Rogers, ‘Let Some Word That Is Heard Be Yours’. He will also show other examples of memoir/bio from other artists. Participants will create their own (brief) biography of someone they know or someone they want to research.

Alex Nall is a cartoonist and teaching artist living in Chicago. His book ‘Teaching Comics: Volume One’ was nominated for a 2016 DINKY Award and his biography of Fred Rogers ‘Let Some Word That Is Heard Be Yours’ was released in May 2016. His comics have been featured in Newcity, the Chicago Reader, Kilgore Quarterly, and Two Cookie Minimum. His website is alexnall.blogspot.com

Third Coast Comics is located in Rogers Park on Sheridan Rd. just south of the Loyola Red Line station (east side of the street next to Felice’s kitchen).

The event is BYOB, so feel free to bring something to drink and/or eat.
